Hi. I took my van (1997) for a new caliper to be fitted at Kwik Fit. The caliper was fitted and works fine but there is a rattling due to the fact the caliper pins were rusted so they fitted a split pin instead. They advised me to source pins from the dealer as they cannot get the parts from their factors. Kwik fit told me the pins would be pennies-they were'nt. £62 for a kit which included the pins. Am I being unreasonable being a bit miffed at having to do the ground work to get the job completed properly? The original pins were rusty on removal and were binned. Should they have completed the job properly or am i being fussy?

from what i know fron driving my scud as a taxi since 1999
and 435,000 miles on it..rattley calipers are par for the course
with a scud..a spring sleeve thing that fits in the caliper to stop
the front pads rattling does help but nor much
learn to do them yourself
its not that hard

Sounds to me like the split pins they provided may have been on the small side to cause a rattle as you describe...Damnit! Its your brakes we are talking about here!...get back to Kwick Fit PDQ and demand the jobs done properly!!
