I am waiting for my 500 to turn up at the dealers and in the mean time trying to figure out what accessories I need to order. I really like TomTom sat navs but it looks like its not compatible with the 500?
Lol yes true I could go that route but would really like to take advantage of the special port and not have to worry about ugly wires everywhereHow so? It just plugs in to the cig lighter socket & sticks on the screen doesnt it?
I think the link above you sent is for use with mobile phones, it talks about everything being on a memory card and I think you pair your phone to the gps antenna included which would not be of any use.I'm confuddled again now...
"that would replace the mapping system on the 500 sat nav system?"
Does your 500 already have SatNav?
The Tom Tom unit has it's own maps etc, no wires... just jump in, switch on, set route & drive once you have paired the Tom Tom with your car.
Ah my bad....
thank you so much Grimwau I wasn't sure if the blue&me stuff worked as I know others have had problems with it. I just ordered my car so fingers crossed it should be compatible. LOL also looking at your MPG that is really scary for a twinair is it really that bad.... I'm guessing as I have just ordered one its not too late to change my mind yet lol
That sounds good enough to me, exactly what I am looking for As for the MPG of the Twin Air I will give it a chance. I have read most of that thread and the MPG figures jump around drastically. From 28mpg to high 60's. Hopefully mine will be 1 of the good ones lolDon't panic about twinair economy, my car had a problem from day one but most other people are doung much better, some even getting 50MPG, check here for more info if you haven't already done so.
The sat nav has nearly all the features of the stand alone TomTom (I think the live traffic isn't yet available) and the directions etc come through the speaker on the unit rather than through the car audio system as this isn't working yet. However, as you noticed you can display lots of info on screen once you have paired the unit to the car including the fuel consumption, the gearchange arrows, the media player etc. Also, the passenger can change the tunes using the sat nav screen which isn't possible normally as they only normally work from the steering wheel buttons. Also, if you start to run low on fuel it will direct you to the nearest petrol station.
I'm sure there are lots of other things but as I sold my TA and satnav after a few weeks I have forgotten most of the functions.
Lol yes I was impressed with the software for the Mac too, I have always had to boot into windows to update my past SatNavs. How do you know the version number? My box just says Blue&me TomTom Europe 45. Is there 2 versions of that device?just picked up from my dealer the new blue and me tom tom version 2, much better than my tom tom go 930. Software on the mac is very polished!
