Can't help unfortunately :(

When you say you are after a carbed 1.1 or 1.3, do you mean the FIRE engine (1108/ 1242cc) or the old sohc engine (1116/ 1301cc)? The old 1116/ 1301cc engine is totally different to the FIRE and will not fit a Panda without work. The 1108cc FIRE was fitted to the Uno 60S models, but the 1242cc FIRE was never fitted to UK spec cars.

You could go for the 1108/ 1242cc engine out of a 'Cento or Punto, but you'll also need to find a carburetor and inlet manifold to suit from an older FIRE engined Panda or Uno.

Should be loads of 1.1/ 1.2 engined Centos and Puntos in scrapyards!

What exactly are you hoping to do to your Panda?

so the 1108cc FIRE Uno 60S engine will fit ok then you think?

an with the 1.1/1.2 carbed cento/punto engines, can i put my carb an inlet manifold off my 1.0panda engine onto it?

i wanna put a new engine in cos mine is 100k plus and getting bit rubbish, and i though may as well put a bit gigger engine in. the extra 10bhp got me excited...would be nice to have that bit extra if im going to do engine swap.

but then my carb would be 1.0 on a 1.1. or .2 so that wouldnt work would it... hmm. im a bit confused. i dont mind doing a bit of work to get it in, but i want carb really...

another question..sorry, but are the uno 60s ALWAYS carbed, cos there are some ads for some around the 1992 mark...and i assume they would be injection?

Yes, should be a straight swap.

Yes you can. The 1.1 FIRE used the same Weber 32 TLF carburetor as the 999cc engines. Only difference is some of the jets are bigger. If you look in the Haynes manual you can find the specifications, and then can go to a carb specialist and buy bigger jets. Mind you, it will probably run fine as it is.

The 1.2 FIRE engine was never available in the UK with a carburetor. However, you can still fit the Panda inlet manifold and carburetor to it ('60' models only). The exception is 75SX version of the 1.2. This is no good as the stud spacings are different and the carburetor manifold will not fit.

FIRE engines are good for 200K if looked after ;) However, the lure of more power is irresistable I must admit! If you can pick up a cheap 1.1/ 1.2 FIRE engine then go for it. I know I'm hoping to do the same to my Uno at some point.

Mk1 60S models were always carbed, but they are no good as they had the earlier sohc engine. Mk2 60S models (1989 onwards) were carbed up until approx. early 1993 as you mention. After that they switched to SPI throttle body so that a CAT could be used. If you can find an early mk2 60S then you'll get the carb for it as well (y)

The 999cc carb will work fine on a 1.1 or 1.2. It may need rejetting slightly, but the same carb body was used for both the 1.0 and 1.1 engines. The 1.2 could ideally do with a bigger carburettor but will still work fine with Weber 32 TLF. Alternatively look at the thread in the Panda section about fitting a twin choke Weber. With a bit of luck someone might be able to make some adaptor plates to bolt them in :slayer:

i think..that i'll look for a 60s. its so ace they are carbed untill 1993, that makes me very happy.

ok, would the ignition system be different than my panda, or would it still be the same as the wiring on my panda?

sorry for all the questions! i apprectaite it!

Yes, the 1242 ignition system would be different to your Panda. But what you do is removed the Punto distributor and bolt in the Panda/ Uno unit in its place. End of problem (y)

that sounds easy...isnt there a problem with the exhaust if i remember from another thread...manufold is slightly higher on a 1242punto, so you have to make a block...
anyway, both the 1.1uno60s and the 1242 punto look pretty good...gettin excited now :)

If worst came to worst you could always have a system made up for it, then you could gain another 5 bhp by a bigger exhaust and a k&n filter on top...
