Hi all, I'm in the middle of sourcing parts for my 899 - 1242 project, and I've got the offer of a lump from a 1.2 Punto Sporting Mpi from an S-reg car which has air-con.
My question is can I use the short engine ( ie bottom end ) from this? I'll be using a modded Spi head, so I won't need the Mpi stuff and I'm guessing I may need a different alternator bracket from a non aircon car, but am I missing anything else?
It's quite tempting as it looks like it's been rebuilt not so long ago, it's local and fairley cheap.
The only downside I can see is once I get it home, I may be tempted to put it in as is........
Cheers, Neil

The pitch on the cam pulley may differ from the crank pulley on the 16v so you may have to fit one from an 1100 and fit a 1242 cam belt.

Thanks very much for the info. I was hoping to find a cheap running car, that way I know the lump is ok. I'll hold off the 16v for now and see if a suitable 60 or 75 turns up.
Cheers, Neil
