Off Topic Annoying Fuel Cap - Doesnt open so easily

Hi Guys

Does anyone else have the same issue with their Fuel Cap that it becomes annoyingly to open and close after filling up... At the same time sometimes the key feels as if its stuck inside and if you pull any harder it could break...

I was thinking of removing my fuel cap and buying one of these :-

Since it looks alot easy to close and open.

Have the same issue. works ok'ish but it's annoying when it decides not to which is most of the time

tried lubricating through the key slot..??,
never had an issue with ANY of my FIAT locking caps..

The Key goes in fine, It just works when it wants too? Im so annoyed that sometimes after 5mins standing near the fuel cap I think forget locking it, Only to notice after a short journey I have diesel stains dripping down.

WD40 down the keyhole, regularly. One of the few things it is good for.

i would use silicone pray in the key hole and on every other moving part that you can access. Then keep turning the key for a few minutes.

Maybe you are not using it right. I had the same issues in the beginning. The key DOES stick inside for a reason. Basically you need to turn the key and unwind the cap for opening and doing the SAME for closing: 1) return the key in base position (turn it counterclockwise for LHD cars), 2) put back the cap and wind it back clockwise and 3) turn the key again (clockwise) to lock. (I may be wrong with some of the directions as I am trying to remember as I type, but the sequence is this).

Sometimes it just does not work and you have to repeat, but I think I kinda nailed it with time and have no issues anymore.

They are really awkward, took me a while to figure it out the first time I filled up the Bravo.
Fiat 500's are the same, few week back, in a fuel station I had to show a random woman how to open it. Must of been new to her too but she was baffled and unable to figure it out haha

Yeh you have to hold the cap, whilst unlocking it and then turn the cap and the same for when you lock it. Turn the cap and then hold it whilst locking it.

WD40 down the keyhole, regularly. One of the few things it is good for.

I wouldn't use WD 40 on a lock, it can attract dust and grit better to use a dry lubricant like PTFE or graphite

previous post'er reminded me ...YES - I have had to show 500 owners
( maybe not QUITE THAT MANY)

how to lock the thing back to the car.. needless to say it works perfectly - 1st time,
so IS obviously just a "knack"..,
