Punto Evo Airbag lights on

Hi, need some help ... Recently took my punto into the dealers with the airbag lights on ... Apparently I need a new wiring loom and harness because a few wires have fused in the harness! Gonna cost me £1600 ? thibk I'm gettin ripped off and there is an easier cheaper fix than replacing the whole thing!?
Can anyone help!?

1stly ,
what Punto..??,


the airbags are a safety critical thing - obviously,

BUT there are ways around replacing large sections of loom,
surely an auto electrician could sort it in less than a day

FYI,
the later punto's 2006 - on, grande - evo, etc are GM specced versions ,
and Vauxhall Corsa wiring is available at less cost than FIAT bagged ones..,

Thanks Charlie! It's a 2011 punto evo 1.6 turbo diesel! So it's defiantly fixable without replacing the whole loom and harness!

I have spoke to several auto electricians and they have said it should be fixable but without looking at the car and running the diagnostics then they didn't want to say for sure!!
