Tuning Aftermarket Shocks

I made a post a few weeks ago when I swapped my rear shocks for some SuperSport ones.

Since then I've managed to get the fronts replaced too. Ride is definitely better than before (got sportline springs, also on a t-jet) but I don't know if that's just because they're new shocks, old ones were pretty well gone, especially the passenger side.

However the front ones are a little longer than the old ones, which does give the spring more room to expand/compress, but it also means that they do raise the front of the car a bit more than before - maybe 10mm (haven't measured) so I'm clearing those middle-of-the-road traffic calming speed bumps better than I was before.

Thanks for that, where did you get them if you don't mind me asking?

German eBay

Works out to be £175ish delivered now (delivery to UK is 15.80euros from them) exchange rate must have gone up since I got them as they were about £162 iirc.

You can get them from the UK but for £90ish more - these are Corsa D ones, but they're the same (also fit the Mito)

The new front ones come with an M12 thread on the top of the piston opposed to an M10 of the old one, so the old nuts are useless. The new ones for me only came with 2 new nuts I had some issues finding two more self locking pinch (or nyloc) M12 nuts with flanges and with the necessary 1.25mm thread pitch for the new shocks.

However they also have proper hex head on the top of the piston rather than the torx inside the top of the piston as the original ones have. I'd stripped this torx thread before which didn't help but when its necessary to change the top mounts again  it should be easier/less of an issue to worry about.

Hope this helps!

1)Koni Sport (adjustable)

2)Bilstein B8 Sprint

3)Koni FSD (more comfortable than the others, but don't know how they'll work with the sportlines. They use them with pro kit usually)

Not long at all, I was pleasantly surprised.

I've looked at my old emails - ordered Sat 22nd Jan, dispatched Mon 24th Jan, delivered Thurs 28th Jan.

I'd have gone for FSD's too, but as I needed to replace my broken shock asap it turned into an unexpected upgrade on a budget as I didn't have the funds.

ps. Vance, we posted at the same time, not sure if you saw that I'd said they took 4 days to arrive for me.

Thinking I'm going to go for the supersport's, I'll let you know what i go for.

Yeah, I was impressed too.

Just make sure you have 4 new nuts for the front ones (2 per side) before getting taking old ones off and then realising, like I did :bang:
