Seen one of these abarth 600's at a show.the card attached claimed 110bhp.If im right this is the same engine block and head within reason,as the 899cc cinq engine.I read that it runs in the reverse direction to the cinq, can anyone confirm this.would be great if you could use some of the parts to build a screamer of an engine.I think the the cam would not be able to be used if the engine did rotate the other way?
If the 899cc puts out 39bhp,would it be possible to get this up to the sportings 54bhp with a few modifications.

I don't believe the figures quoted for the Abarth!

But, IIRC Blydenstein (the guys who specialised in Vauxhalls) did some work on the 899 engine and improved its output a fair bit.

15bhp doesn't sound a lot, but it's a power increase of something like 40%. While I think it's possible, I'd not expect it to be easy!

good news sounds like fiat have pulled there thumbs out and done something good for a change abarth could be back bigger than ever if what i have seen comes true
fiat 500 with 150bhp and a turbo
even talks of a twin turbo funto

There where one ABARTH model that had 108 hp, the 1000 TCR.
I have made a 903 cc 127 engine with bigbore pistons 970 cc, and 93 hp, this is propeply what you can get out of the engine, with the original cylinderhead.
The 899 cc engine in the Cinq, you can get aprox 60 hp out off. This will be posible with new cam, 38 mm trottle, and reworked head.
