500 semi auto actuator problem

Hi Everyone
Im new to the forum. I bought my daughter a 2012 semi automatic convertible in October(70k miles )The garage said it had previously had a small problem with gears slipping but had been fixed. To cut a long story short i am left with a car that slips into neutral whilst driving and crunching when reversing. A couple of auto garages suggested on the phone that it needs a new actuator (3.5k). Are there any alternatives to this ie fixing actuator or changing for a reconditioned one. The car is only worth 4.5k in working order.Also any info on where this could be done in south east. Thank you in advance if you have any suggestions.

There is a thread somewhere dedicated to dualogic gearbox failures.
Plus a forum member reccomends an expert (in stoke on Trent possibly)
Fingers xed they will spot this thread and jump in.
You need an expert in dualogic gearbox.
