Hi all
Anyone come across a fault code “P24D1-92”

Brings management light on, disabled Stop-Start, No limp or anything (drives fine)

Yes it will be going in to fiat

Just wondering if anyone’s had this yet?

Google suggests “particulate matter regen incomplete”

Managed to clear code, even though multiecuscan doesn’t recognise the vehicle’s ECU yet

After approx 200 miles it’s back

God damn fiats lol

And there's me thinking the newer EURO6 would of had all the issues sorted out by now lol

I put an order in just before lockdown for the new automatic 180bhp all singing and dancing then cancelled it when lockdown started

Whats the fuel economy like compared to the old one

Hi Rolopolo,

I have exactly the same problem as you.

My van is a 2020 2.3 140. It has less than 280 miles on the clock. I'll describe what happened.

I picked up the van with 15 miles on the clock. Began the journey home (140 miles). I knew that the van had auto stop start (which I dislike) so after about 30 miles I swithed the stop/start off using the dash control just below and to the right of the steering wheel.
A short while later the engine management light came up amber. A warning was given on the multi function display that the auto stop/start was disconnected, this was a circle with an A in the middle and an ! (amplisand), indicating a fault. The performance of the vehicle seemed to remain the same. Being brand new I was driving very gently anyway. I got home and invesitgated what the problem was. Using an ODB2 reader connected to Torque I found the same fault code as you. I cleared the fault code using Torque.

Next day started the vehicle and drove as normal, all ok until I switched off the auto stop/start. Same warning as described above. Drove home and again cleared the fault. Next drive out, again no problems. On this occasion I stopped at a location for about 3 hours. On the way home the fault appeared without me touching the auto stop/start disable/enable button.

Booked it into the local Fiat Proffessional garage. They have told me that they have diagnosed a defective "matter sensor". Apparently this has been a common problem recently. The sensor is not readily available and is on back order from the factory in Italy, they have no idea when it will arrive!

The workshop manager could not tell me if I should or should not drive the van.

Thats it for know, Ill keep you updated.

Cheers.

I found a technical bulletin on a similar problem whilst googling yesterday, but can't find it now. I think it was US oriented and not specific to the Ducato, but a range of FCA vehicles with adblue and stop/start, and where the "particulate matter regen incomplete" fault code kept appearing.

The fix was to replace a specific sensor, that the document stated had been introduced on these vehicles to comply with EU emissions legislation.

The sensors seem quite fragile, as the document indicated that the new replacement must be gently shaken before fitting, and any that rattle should be rejected and the test repeated until a suitable unit was found!

Hi Rolopolo,

Yup, popped into the selling dealer on Saturday, managed to grab technician who said exactly same, DPF matter sensor, common part,
As I could clear it he said to mention it to them when booking in for service (4 weeks away approx) and hopefully they will fix under warranty then,

Prob I’m having as I needed to change laptops is the latest 4.6R multiecuscan won’t recognise anything on the van
Where my 2.5yr old old version let me clear faults but that’s gone now

Thankfully it runs ok
And was showing as regenerations were happening at normal regular intervals

Cheers
Neil

Do you like the 180 ?

It’s no 3.0 180, that was a beast and never used a drop of oil in 450,000 miles

But then dropping to a 130 euro6 for 4yrs

Yes I love the 180
Very drivable but horrid at set off/junctions etc

Gearbox is like an old Mk1 ford escort and will only select when giving it some right foot away from junctions

Plus flat spot when accelerating slowly away and changing up

Better than expected as each Euro emission update seems to numb any power each euro standard

ive got 2 & both are a bit Transity (jerky) cold, more revvy than the 3.0 but not the initial torque ,better mpg,
got a van and a curtainsider only problem the van needed a new rad at 70k

Have got a mesh panel to fit behind the grill when I get a free day lol [emoji1303]

Hi, following my earlier post. Got a call from Fiat Professional, the part is in, very surprised as I thought I would have to wait a month or two. Anyhow, part was fitted in 2 hours, (1 hour for the van to cool down). Drive back home, no management light, auto stop/start works, I quickly switched it off. All good so far.
One thing I didn't mention in my last post, when the problem occurred I also couldn't change the Drive Mode, the button did nothing. I can now select Normal, Power or Eco. Not sure what difference it makes. Hopefully that is the end of that problem. If anything does reoccur I'll keep you posted. Cheers.

That’s good news, got mine booked in in a few weeks for 1st service
Albeit still awaiting a call back to arrange the part,

Out of interest did they mention if it’s a modified part they fitted (so it doesn’t happen again) ?

Cheers for update [emoji1303][emoji1303]

Update

First service today 33800 miles, (oil & filter changed at 20k interim)
Sensor replaced, apparently it is a superseded part now so touch wood it won’t go again in a few weeks finger crossed

I had the same issue with a 160bhp with 280 miles on the clock. Called the Fiat assist and they sent an RAC man who just cleared the fault code and all has worked fine since!
No symptoms just the engine warning light and the message "Start Stop not available"

i picked up a new motorhome on friday. ducato 2.3 120. 17 miles down the road and the engine management light came on whilst crawling in slow traffic with the same code P24D1.

i havent cleared it as of yet because i dont know where i would stand warranty wise.

i have discovered when it does it though. if i am crawling in 2nd gear but using the idle (i.e. no foot on the accelerator) so i am going forward slowly then thats when it pops up.

17 miles though. to say i was devastated is an understatement. the place i got my motorhome from have just said contact fiat!!!

Hi, I don’t know if anyone can help with this. I, too have 2020 Ducato 160 manual. Engine management light came on at 122 miles. After 3 visits, new sensor was ordered and fitted by my Fiat Professional dealer which seemed to cure the problem. Have now done a further 800 miles, engine management light and warning again appeared but was a different code than before. No loss of power, only stop start disabled and weirdly the gear change indicator not functioning. Was told that Fiat didn’t recognise code, garage reset, and then handed back to me. After 34 miles yesterday same thing happened. Took straight back to garage and losing hope now. This vehicle has failed 6 times in 1400 miles, we have lost all faith. Any comments/guidance would be appreciated.

i have exactly the same on my motorhome.

ducato 2.3 120

picked it up in september 2020 got 17 miles and the engine light came on. the RAC came out and cleared it P24D1 was the code displayed. its done around 500 miles now and its done exactly the same thing 4 times. i have cleared the code with my odb2 reader but its not good. the one thing i noticed is it came on whilst in crawling traffic except for the last time where i was on the motorway.

its in on friday to be looked at so i'll let you know. imagine my delight though....17miles. good old Fix It Another Time

you'd have thought i learnt from my old fiat strada i used to have (85 super)
