hi
just finished fitting a 1242 mpi into my wifes seicento (2001 schumacher)
had no problems fitting it and it started first turn but its running rough, revs are rising and falling and backfiring through throttlebody.anyone else had a similar problem?

My initial reaction is the timing belt is out or somethings wrong with the knock sensor. Beyond that I can't be much help as I've got very little experience with my 1242cc conversion going wrong.

check map sensor, make sure your breather pipes are connected from the tb to the map,if there not or the maps not connected then it will run extremely rough and misfire a lot.

hi
thanks for the replies i'll check the timing and the map sensor and let you know how i get on

Nearly sounds to me like the alternator pulley is not lined up with the crank pulley.

It appears that the alternator pulley will go on any way in line with the three bolts, but there is a little hole in the alternator pulley which must be lined up with the corresponding dimple on the crank pulley. Make sure the two are lined up before replacing it.

Sounds like very similar symptoms to my g/f's cinq a couple of years ago.

If not check for a inlet/t/b leak thats all i can suggest!

BTW on a random note Ayrton what a legendary name, much like Ayrton Senna!!

Good luck with it.

Classic relevant picture
