The 500 rear springs are now fitted. They are only 1mm thinner wire than the original springs but the ride quality is much improved.

The ride height is a little higher than the 100HP But I am using rubber spring seats on both ends. This protects the axle spring pan paint. Another option is to use the spring seat at the bottom with some textile braided pressure hose slipped over the top spring coil to protect the body shell paint.

Body roll feels much the same though Ive only got my Mk1 seat of the pants test gauge to go by. And the wire is only 1mm thinner than standard (11.25mm v 12.25mm).

The car still crashes into pot holes but the only fix for that would be balloon tyres so that's about as good as it will get.

Next job will be to compare 500 front springs with the 100HP springs. It's likely the 500 has also softer suspension at the front. Ride height should be compatible as we don't see 500s going around with their noses in the air.
