I had an MOT failure on my 1.9 L Multijet (150 BHP) due to sub-frame severely corroded - anyone else had this issue? Looking for a replacement - called FIAT to inquire price (part no. 51804490) and was quoted £1028 (inn VAT) which is way too expensive. MY car has covered only 28K miles and it is a gem to drive so intend to keep it but £1K plus £200 to £300 labour would be too expensive. Searched ebay and found one compatible frame but again it is used and not looking that great - so need to know how others in similar situation got this fixed.

Take subframe off, sandblast it, two-component primer paint, and then finish black paint.
I think that it would be cheaper than other used one.
Its unbelievable that subframe is so corroded in 28k.
Do you park your car over grass or mud?
