Hi!
My car broke down on the motorway today. We ( me and the police officer ) think it might be that clutch cable broke down. As i felt a very, very firm resistance when pressing a pedal and couldnt put in any gear.
Has somebody encountered something similar and any guesses how much it may cost. As all the garages are closed over the weekend and it will be only on monday when ill try to find something and also i am a student and a money issue is very important. Many thanks in advance!

Hi...thanks for the reply. This was the first time i had the probs with the clutch. its sorted now. I had to change all the clutch kit and it cost me 280 pounds. And you're right marea hasnt got clutch cable. It was just a first guess but still if it would have been broken cable pedal should of felt either very light or fallen down into the floor.

ouch!!! my clutch is being replaced, having to pay about the same as well, already bought the clutch kit at £100 or so (cheapest price i found) and it needs 5 hours of work to fix, was meant to have someone do it for me, but turns out they're busy, so off to my usual mechanic at £30 an hour, 5 hours is the book time too (n)

I got my cam belt done at a Italian car specialist in Birmingham at a very reasonable price, I happened to look at what he charged for replacing the clutch on a Marea 20v.... £700 . The cost of replacing these things is one of the reasons I decided to take advantage of the scrappage scheme.
