owner of a 1.6 active sport time for its second service. which are the best spark plugs you can get and give the car the best performance and what oil do you reccommend using and is it worth changing the air filter as well (y)

I am using Bosch super4 plugs and have found the car pulled better when fitted [£20 a set at hell-frauds] the oil I think is a personal thing and some cars for some reason prefer one oil over another [dont ask me why just remember we call our cars she ]and a performance panel filter will give you a slight increase and you wont have to buy another one either just clean and replace it :chin:

Super 4's and Mobil 1 in my 5 DOOR Abarth, orig sparks were fiat, the bosch ones are much better.
I was going to try Magnatec oil, but the chap who serviced it said that magnatec is better for older engines, and there is nothing better than mobil 1.

Just reminded me I thought the positioning of the cold air intake was very bad, almost hidden by the the bonnet and plastic trim.

Hope this helps.

Which brand/type of filter to you classify as 'performance panel'?

Apart from perhaps Castrol Edge 0W-30 :p (and it should be at the price  )

This is truly superb in my JTD. No startup noise, no leaks, almost no oil consumption, better mpg and revs like billyoh.

To be fair, I think some of the fully synthetics may not be suitable for other engines in the range and once you've picked up some wear then you're pretty much forced to use one of the thicker grades.

There are a number of manufacturers that make a performance/sports panel filter K&N/Green/BMC to mention a few If I had gone that way and not for the induction kit then I think I would have used the BMC panel filter you can see them here www.motorsportworld.co.uk follow the links to fiat stilo its around the £38 mark not bad when you think that you will possibly never have to buy a OE filter again just clean out and re oil the BMC one :chin:

STILO 1.6 60k I am using SELENIA 20K alfa engine oil and UFI filters.
i've change the sparkplugs 1000k ago with NGK BKR5EZ and the engine has a vibration now.I want to try something better.Any advices???(oil, filters, sparkplugs)parts number(code)also needed!

best choise fpr sparkplugs is either NGK or Denso IRIDIUM..

Have them on mine (NGK) and it does make a significant difference in throttle responce..!!!

Funnily enough since I posted that first reply and spoken about the super4s I have had a long chat with Oldschool and he generally doesn't like Bosch and also prefers NGK he told me that if the Bosch get fouled up they can stop firing but the NGK a a lot more tolerant with this [not that you want fouled up plugs mind you] and I did actually change back to the ngk plugs a while back maybe Iridium could be the next stop :chin:

I'd look elsewhere for the cause of your vibration, nomatter what brand of plugs you use, you shouldn't have a misfire. A diagnostic would quickly tell you if you have problems with coils or plugs or any fault codes stored would give a clue to problems. In my experience, if you have a plug misfiring or a coil breaking down then the Stilo is smart enough to eventually tell you and fire up the relevant fault codes

Did this vibration start straight after you changed the plugs?
Does it "vibrate" all the time and throughout the whole rev range?
Can you feel this vibration at tickover?
Does it only "vibrate" when you're moving?
