Sorry im new to this and know very little about cars.
Ive looked through all the other threads but can't seem to find one the releates to my issue.

I went to open the bonnet yesterday, and the handle in the drivers side of the car broke (the plastic one)
We managed to pull the cable from the inside of the car which had resistance but the bonnet didn't release.
We also managed to get hold of the red release handle from under the bonnet but unfortunately this also didn't work and the bonnet is remaining firmly shut.
Does anyone know how i can open the bonnet manually without the two release mechanisms?
Thanks in advance

Hi, Welcome to the FF.

The red handle only does anything after the bonnet catch has been released by the internal black handle.

If the internal handle is broken, pull the cable with pliers while someone is pushing down on the front centre of the bonnet.
.

I tried that and nothing does this mean that the cable had disconnected somewhere under the bonnet?

Would i be able to release the bonnet if i jacked it up? Is the cable accessible from underneath?

Thanks in advance

Can you get someone to hold the cables casing whilst you tug on the wire thats coming out of it - you could be just pulling whole cable and and its black casing, try that first - i doubt its snapped, ive never seen a cable that has actually snapped - just the handle and black surround thats broke before and i have replaced them too, they have to be handled with care - more so if you hardly ever open the bonnet as the part that holds the spring etc goes brittle.

Thanks that's great managed to get it open, now to sort out the several other things that's wrong with it ?
