My Stilo has been up for sale now for just over a week, its in fairly good condition considering its 14 years old and has very low miles. Could do with new lower control arms but still works fine as it is. The Stilo's suspension never was any good in the first place...

Priced only a few hundred pounds but I've had not even one phone call yet! You can't even give the thing away. I was offered £50 part exchange at one place, the cheek of it! If only it was a bit cheaper to insure a second car, I'd have kept it but it has to go. Shame, cos its such a practical car.

Looking on AutoTrader, there's loads up for sale for very little money.

I feel your pain mate.
My stilo cost me £650 two years ago, since then i had a little ding so the body work looks tatty however, underneath and maintenance wise its sound (spent over 2k on it since) so im in the same boat, car is worth **** to resell but to me is worth about 2700 after maintenance and purchasing the car, wounded... Shes staying with me till she pops, shes on 94k now....

I no what you mean tried selling mine but got not got any intrest really one guy showed to view said how good mine was for its age but never came back to buy was listed on the net for a month numerous views on the site and thats all it got and I wasn't even asking for a lot really I put it at a fair price to sell as well

Aye its very gutting, the niggly common faults cause the major depreciation on these cars.

I would love an abarth 2.4 or schuey but i dont have bottomless pockets and time to maintain one anymore so the next car is most likley going to be a Golf 5 or something... Need reliability and MPG more than anything... Doing my best to not spend anything else on my stilo, at moment shes sprang a tiny leak from bottom right side of the radiator (since i scraped it on a high curb, think its bent the radiator along the bottom) and will need a new back box when my bandage repair corrodes... Fed up of throwing money at it! Oh and i spent 7 quid on a litre of 10/40 to top her up yesterday... Never ending

I understand. I'd never get back what's gone into mine. But since I'm planning on keeping it for another 2-3 years and don't do too much milage, it's the most sensible option. I do not want to be getting into a lot of debt and finance for something newer. I could go out and drop another £2k on something else, but it's pot luck as to if it would be any good. So I'd rather drop a few hundred on my Stilo and make do.

He went in for a service yesterday and they did a lot for him. The usual on the sheet but also managed to get rid of the suspension rattle, the drop links replaced, the remote fob works again, wiper blades etc.

Sadly he needs more work. There's a leak on the cooling (hoses probably) and the clutch is in a state (I found this shortly after buying him last year). Then minor cosmetic issues (£90 for alloy refurbs and a bit of t-cutting to deal with some scratches).

It's a shame. They are good looking and nice to drive. They weren't cheap either but the build quality was just a bit inconsistent.
