In my opinion its not worth the hassle.
Many years ago I changed from petrol to diesel on a old land rover because I was only getting 15 mpg.
After a lot of work I was really pleased with my self and then I got 25 mpg.
Was it worth the work ? NO JUST A LOT OF BUGGERING ABOUT TO SAVE A BIT OF MONEY AND IT TOOK A LONG TIME TO GET BACK THE ENGINE MONEY I'D SPENT

you are correct.., not worth the bother
Thanks will look for a remap so petrol a little better at towing .Think this engine a little worn doesn't use oil but not a lot of pull in any gear from 40 to 60 mph. Aslo get the odd misfire after heavy rain
or just buy a diesel , and swap over the toys..,
mapping is unlikely to prove hugely different in - lugability..
although dealing with any non-ideal engine issues will certainly help.
Not worth the hassle, that many bits to change you might as well just buy a JTD outright anyway, plus insuring an engine swap vehicle would be a 'mare compared to just insuring a straight honest standard one.
