I recently purchased a second hand Stilo Dynamic 1.9JTD estate '04. Came with two original keys but the internal 'doodah thingy' is missing. No probs door can be opened by manually using the key(I'm a big boy).

Problem I have is that my boot is stuck closed. Checked fuses all ok. Attempted lots of times to open the boot by using both locks -driver & passenger side. There is no boot key lock/hole.

Is there a reset procedure or some way of opening the boot? The dogs have been stuck in the back for three days now and are getting hungry and need to go for a walk!
Only joking they got out through the back doors after folding the rear seats down (clever canines them collies is).

Regards
Chris

Hi, Welcome to the FF.

Pressing the boot lock button on the remote control key for more than 2 seconds should open the tailgate. Pressing the button twice within 2 seconds should open the independently opening tailgate window if your car has that option.

Alas the internal electric thing in the key fob was not present when I purchased the car. I'm thinking about contacting a local Fiat dealer in west Cornwall to see if they can help. Pain in the bum (n)

I wondered what you meant by "'doodah thingy' is missing" ;)

Are you aware of the micro switch behind the rubber cover in the tailgate handle?. There's also a similar switch below the independently opening tailgate window if your car has that option.

There's also an emergency lever to open the tailgate inside the boot, so you can open it to investigate further.

Hi. Had a similar problem a while back it turned out to be the window on the tailgate wasn’t shut properly it looked shut but wasn’t, this stops the boot being opened worth checking.

I have got the same car.. On you're key there are 3 Burton's
If you push the lowest button for about 2sec the booth will open if pushes 2 times quickly the booth window opens

Than you can also check the status of opening your booth on the menu in your dashboard booth ....... On/off if it's on you only can open your booth with the bitten on your key.

I hope it helps you

Thanks for the advise peeps. Took the car down to a garage in Longrock, Penzance. Graham Eddy 20D Longrock Industrial Estate TR20 8HX Tel: 01736 366206.
The fob didn't work as the internal battery tray was missing (when I bought it). Tailgate is all in one and doesn't have a separately operating window. No little hole on the inside as shown earlier in this thread. The micro switch on the tailgate handle has broken. New one on order. Mr Eddy fashioned a temp fix with a piece of wire to open the tailgate from the inside in an emergency, he also wedged a battery into the fob with a piece of cardboard to enable the tailgate to open with the fob. Going to source a battery thingamajig off of eBay. I thought it was part of the electrics in the fob and was programmed just like the fob so buying one would be pointless. I was wrong! Mr Eddy was kind enough to fit the little bit of work for me in at very short notice despite me creeping up on him (unintentionally I might add!) with my speshul ninja training and nearly giving the poor guy a heart attack. All in all, not a bad day, call it a learning curve. I'll post again when the work is complete.

Thank you
Chris
