Yup this car has no acceleration with MAF sensor installed.

with the MAF sensor that came with the car, i could remove the MAF and the cars acceleration is back to normal and the engine light went out - obvs sommit to do with the MAF....

So i cleaned the MAF with contact cleaner in hope to fix it, but it only made it worse - i could remove the MAF and the cars acceleration is back to normal but the engine light now stays on!!

So i bought a new one and have just installed it....with no change whatsoever! DAMN

Any ideas what to do? Thanks

oh cool! thank you!

i have a Vgate Scan OBD2 which i assume will be able to do this?

havent yet found the plug though, apparently its near the drivers fuse board?

yes, ive cleared the error code and the e light has gone out! woop

but the acceleration problem is not fixed, every now and then its ok, as before, but its still not fixed

does it take some time for the new MAF sensor to readjust the ECU?

Yes I've just given it a drive and it's the same....at first it's seems accelerating ok through the gears....then after cruising in third for a while and I gas it, it doesn't go anywhere, even down hill! Now if i drop into second it'll go.

Usually in third it has such more potential of acceleration

The no acceleration happens in all gears btw

I imagine if I remove this new maf sensor it will be OK again. ...nut obviously I don't want to!

Cheers

Ooo what's that....and how can i do that? Using my vgate obd2 scanner?

During the initial check up the system says the car has a service due..... I can't seem to find the reset button for that or whether I should at all reset it

thank you, i will investigate. but why do you suspect this?

my brake lights are not stuck on

I can still unplug the maf and all is better! Acceleration back to normal

I will try the brake switch....how do I reset it? Thanks

So I have reset my existing brake switch as well as bought a new replacement and neither has fix the lack of acceleration problem

Resetting it I just pulled out the plunger as far as it would go....is there a special way to set it

any other ideas ta

To set the switch, you need to pull the plunger out as far as it will go while holding the brake pedal down, then raise the pedal slowly until it stops.

After setting the switch, never raise the brake pedal. (e.g. lift it with your foot), or "heel and toe" (press the brake and accelerator pedals at the same time). The latter will trigger a P1555 brake/accelerator implausibe fault code.
.

Thank you I have now done that but after many attempts resetting it the problem still exists

I guess that means it must be something else wrong with the car

Just so anyone knows I managed to fix it because the EGR valve was faulty

firstly I blanked off the EGR valve with a plate and it instantly fixed the acceleration problem so I got a new EGR eventually and it has worked as well

Woo
