Hello all,

I have an issue with my Fiat Stilo, 04 reg.

My door handle isn't working, usually I open my car by using the key and holding the keys and turning right for a short while whilst the electric windows come down, allowing me to open the handle from the inside.

However after returning from summer holidays my battery has gone flat on my car and there is no method of getting into my car. The key in the boot has never worked. Again I use the central locking system to open this.

I somehow need to open my bonnet and out some charge into my vehicle so I can wind my windows down to enter the car, to start my engine and make it run.

If I were to gain access to my bonnet and jump start my car using jump leads would I automatically get my central locking to work with my key, without starting the engine.

I really need some advice on what to do. I don't want to smash the window, as this is my last resort.

Kindest regards

Anthony

Dont know about fiats, but on most of the cars I have owned (mainly VWs) the alternator is accessable from underneath the car. The Alternator is connected directly to the battery.
You should be able to reach under the car and attach the positive cable from your charger, to the battery cable on the alternator. The negative cable can be connected to any earth point on the car.
In theory this should work in the absence of direct access to the battery'

Hope this helps

There have been threads on this forum before for how get into the bonnet. If you do a search you may find something useful, as this is not an unknown problem. As for the battery going flat, check you didnt leave anything switched on whilst you were away , but it suggests it may be time for a new battery . Get one with a good capacity. (again lots of advice here on the forum) .
