Hey guys

How hard is it to change the glow plugs on a 1.9 multijet?

They look simple enough to get too, anything i need to know before attempting the job

some details in here if its the 16v multijet
https://www.fiatforum.com/stilo/347992-multijet-timing-belt.html
the beru were more expensive at the time so I think I fitted ngk ye07 , but checking now beru are closer to same price £45 ngk vs £55 beru
the beru get more recommendations on the alfa side of things
deep 9mm socket required, didn't take long and I cant remember if I did it or not but I think the advise is to do it with a warm engine cooling down so theyre not so tight coming out.
also you could give them a spray with a penetrating oil for a few days to let it creep down the threads for good measure if you arnt doing them yet.
I used a really small socket wrench to save stripping them if tight coming out and so I couldn't over tighten going in.
id heard horror stories and was supprised how well mine came out at I think they were 4yrs old.
ps check out Halfords they were doing Crosland fuel filter that should fit your car for like a £5 er
http://www.alfaowner.com/Forum/alfa...-mispriced-diesel-fuel-filters-a-fiver-2.html
just have to remove your water sensor and transfer to new filter(carefully).

Oh interesting cheers for that, well plugs changed today went for beru 14 quid each the old ones came out fine with a socket and that was on a cold engine , all 4 were suprisingly accesible number 4 ciuld be tricky without long enough extender bar

Shame looks like halfords have corrected the prices or im not looking right

go to car parts, filtration, fuel filter then put your reg in should give you this if you are 16v like me.
http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/...79_langId_-1_categoryId_165539_epId_503580188
still £5.40 showing here
cabin filter £2.88
http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/...79_langId_-1_categoryId_165759_epId_507580238
or this one £3.82

I just did reserve and picked up from local store a few days later, actually just forgot the cabin filters and they would only keep 1 week so picked up on last day by chance.

yep I was supprised how easy they came out too after horror stories, especially looking at how thin they are, also mine were so clean when I removed them they were still shiny like new on the body and threads all down to the seat and I could clearly still read all the part numbers, only the very tips looking a bit sooty/ burnt was difference to new ones.

Yep same here ill try the halfords link now cheers

Ah found it but Product cannot be purchased at this time. - thats a shame

So can I just ask, Are the 1.9 multijet 120 glow plugs the same as the 150bhp. Alot of the sellers on eBay are saying they fit the same.

Just looked on eper and shop4parts. 46754154 is for 1.9jtd......Subst. Date06/2005 55200817 is for 1.9jtdm.

So what are the differences between the two engines as I assume the jtd glow plugs are the same as the jtdm?? They are both 8v engines so assuming not a lot changed.

I don't know, i am just assuming that it is a JTDM rather than a JTD mk2 multijet?? It says 8v on the engine cover i noticed.

I think the jtdm 8v is basically same engine as a jtd 8v wise but running higher fuel pressure (1600bar vs 1350bar)and maybe different injectors and more injection events per stroke, pilot pre and main plus 2 post events if dpf present. I think all 8v jtdm ive seen are 120hp.

I think the cf3 cf4 is on log book , think mine says either cf4 or euro 4.so id guess a jtdm would always be cf4 euro4
looked on an alfa workshop site and it lists for a 147 as example

Glow plug. JTD 8/10 valve glow plugs FOR CF2/CF3 models (BOSCH 0250202036).
and
Plug. Glow plug for CF4 8 valve engines (BOSCH 0 250 202 132).

should be able to cross reference in shopping site etc

most likely a slightly different current rating or afterglow time compatability to also reduce emissions

Cheers, Just phoned shop4parts and ordered them with the 10% forum discount.

There is a lot more room behind this engine rather than to old JTD i noticed today. Looks slightly easier to get to the headlight bulbs as well??
