Hey guys,

I've read a lot on here about the best oil to use in the Stilo Abarth.

Think the manual says 10w40 - updated to 10w60 at some point and there's some fans of 0w40 about . . .

I bought my Abarth with 96,000 on the clock - had it serviced with a belt change straight away.

I'd been using part synthetic 5w30 (I know it's wrong) and 10w40 but it burnt oil like crazy, like litres and litres of the stuff with no apparent leaks, and it had this annoying behaviour of giving false oil pressure warnings when you started the engine hot.

So I took the plunge and did an oil and filter change to Selenia Racing (worked out cheaper through shop4parts with the discount then a comparative 10w60). Got to say it's been great. It's a bit louder on startup, but warm it's much smoother and on motorways much quieter! 2,500 miles later oil is still totally clean and just needed the smallest of top up this morning - maybe 1/2 a ltr which I understand is more standard.

Anyway - hope this helps someone!

Mine like its oil too. I've tried all 3 types (10w/40, 0w/40, 5w/30) and I must admit I found the 5w/30 the most suitable for my car. I say "suitable" as I've found that different stilo abarths have different habits. I know some who use 0w/40 with no need to top up whatsoever. I've tried that and I was constantly topping the oil up! So I moved to 5w/30 and found I was topping it up less (although it's still the worst car I've had for oil consumption). (y)
