Hi,

My Stilo 1.4 5 door, 55 plate has had many problems with the exhaust, currently blowing like a tank.

I have decided to replace it all, from the manifold to the rear section.

Searching on eBay, I was just wondering if the CAT and manifold section is the same on the 1.4 and 1.2 versions of the stilo. I have found a 1.4 version here

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/FIAT-STILO-1-4-843A1-ENGINE-02-04-12-07-CATALYTIC-CONVERTER-CAT-FITTING-KIT-/141201383657?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item20e04220e9

and a 1.2 version here

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/91283H-CATALYTIC-CONVERTER-CAT-TYPE-APPROVED-FIAT-STILO-1-2-2002-2004-2139-/141251345113?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item20e33c7ad9

Would they both fit? all I can see different is the big price difference!

I am also thinking of getting this for the rest of the exhaust

I'm an ok DIY mechanic, but only usually attempt simple-ish jobs, is it difficult to fit a full exhaust system using only axle stands?

Problem is, I have the MOT next week so need to get it fitted asap, so don't have time for custom stainless steel etc.

I think you will find the 1.2 and 1.4 are different . The Klarius website has a good search facility to check this out . I have done 160k on an original fiat catalyst (on my old 1.2) without the need to replace. and our current stilo , a 1.4, is ten years old with no need to replace . When you are fitting the exhaust be prepared to fit new rubber mountings . See another thread here for good info.
I recommend checking their condition before you start the job . As for axle stands - too dangerous . Get it to someone with a lift for safety sake .
The exhaust system you have found is very cheap but its in Poland - will it arrive before or after your MOT??

Don't try and fit it yourself, you'll probably need a oxyacetylene torch to get the old bolts off. Not worth the hassle.
