Technical Air Con

i thought you had to go in to a garage to get your air con topped up as you have to be "trained" to use the equpment ?

Naw mate. The first two items

You only need to buy the trigger once so it gets cheaper when you only need the tin. Recommended you wear safety specs and gloves though.

Just under the picture of the tin on this link you have a how to video

Sure. :) It's bullet proof, especially if you get an EZ Chill gauge - it only fits the low pressure connection. Get a can with oil mixed into it, so the gaskets get lubricated. (y)I have a thread some years ago stating the exact amount of gas going into the Stilo's system, but can't remember where...

You don't have to, but its silly not to as its normally the same price or cheaper than the halfords DIY job, and they'll remove all the old stuff and replace it rather than just top it up, and will also pick up any system leaks etc.

Halfords were doing a deal on for a 30 quid refill but yes you are right they are normally the same price but I wont need to buy the nozzle next time saving 20 quid and I could just get tins chap when I see them on ebay or the likes.

Anyone looking to buy an air con tin and trigger look at the Halfords bundle deals. I just did a bundle on the EZ Chill Auto Air Conditioning Recharge
+ EZ Chill Auto Airconditioning Reusable Trigger Dispenser & Gauge
+ Comma Aircon Cleaner and that came in at £42.99. Reserve online and pay in store when you collect it. Just saved £23.98. :)

All the AC systems work at same pressure range: about 70-85 PSI at 20-25ºC aprox. (cold engine, system off). This results a normal funtion range 35-45 PSI in low pressure line.

All done and what an easy job but.........

Sometimes the air con wont come on. Is there a pre set temperature where it starts to work? I ask this as its been chilly yesterday evening and today when I was out and about and the air con only came on once.

On the plus side. I get £10 back on the empty tin. :)

Too high pressure I don't know the results of, but too low pressure will stop the compressor from engaging. Also temperatures below 4C, but that's not an issue in the UK now?

And... you won't get a proper reading of the system pressure unless you remove the connector to get rid of the pressure from the can to connector and back on again. If not, the gauge might measure the can's pressure.
