hi all new here with a few issues , need some guidance or part numbers / help sourcing parts .

just bought a 03 plate 3 door jtd stilo 1.9 diesel which has possibly been remapped as for a 115bhp its dam quick!

not mint by far with high mileage but want to sort it out and have a play.

speedo clocks have been changed for some reason and mileage always flashes, also noticed the rev gauge goes upto 8k which I think is a little high for a diesel -- - correct???

headlights needed changing so I bought some second hand ones but when I fitted them they seem to have more of a curve towards the wing end of the lamp unit so don't look right - the originals were more straight rather than curvy yet they are the same layout with fog/indicator and the blue side light bits in them.
adjuster motors are making a noise but not adjusting too.
was there a facelift sometime??? and as I cant find the right lights , could I just fit the facelift wings as a little mod seeing as they are just bolt on? - anyone done this ?

suspension - wow very soft - when I pull away the car seems to lift at the front likea muscle car --- really! time for new shocks - do stilo's cope with being lowered at all as might lower her.

can I put comfyer seats in the car as these are pants! the leather ones Ive seen online look the same - are they just as bad and do any other seats fit - front and rear - as a nice mod???

and lastly - sorry for all the above -- - - any little mods/tips/tricks that I can do to the car at the weekend - am pretty good with a spanner - was going to play with the air intake setup but its in such a stupid place I cant really fiddle and does anyone do better intercooler setups - hmm front mount ;-)

any help much appreciated and cheers in advance

Hi, Welcome to the FF.

The diesel speedo only goes up to 6000rpm, so you have a petrol one fitted. You may be able to stop the mileage flashing by having the Proxy Alignment procedure carried out. The flashing mileage issue may not be related to the speedo. I means that an electronic component has been added to the car that wasn't there before, or something has been removed that was there before.

3 door and 5 door headlights and wings are different. As your car is a 3 door, you've probably bought and fitted 5 door ones that no longer match the wings. There are no "facelift wings", just 3 or 5 door ones.
.

I have an 05 115 Stilo Sporting, and yup, its damn quick for a 115 though I have no idea if mine is remapped. The 1.9 Jtd engine is a fine engine indeed.

If your car is lifting, then its either front or rear suspension/shocks, just have them checked out, the rear bushes will need checking too on a car that age/mileage.

I fitted leather seats in place of my old cloth seats and its a huge improvement in comfort as far as I am concerned, not that I thought the cloth ones were too bad. If you do start swapping seats, here is a little mod for you - fit an under seat tray to the drivers seat if you don't have one, so you have hidden trays under both front seats. I did that, used the kit from a passenger seat and made it fit - easy job and handy.

Your headlights are wrong, you need to source the correct ones and if possible check the motors work before fitting them.

You can lower your Stilo, but I am not sure how low yours is now. Mine is a sporting, so i'd say it was very low sitting on 17" Claws, im not sure how low you want to go but don't put it down too much as its only plastic undertrays to protect the engine and belts and the I/C is bottom nearside very low down...

I don't think there is too much you can do with the I/C as space is limited, though if you are good with spanners you can do what you want really - re site the battery for example and have a cool side mount I/C with venting in the bonnet..hmm..i like that....!

anyway, good luck with it pal, I am sure you will have some fun with it. Oh yeah, the flashing mileage, you need a proxy alignment BUT a proxy wont work if those dials are from a petrol, you need the correct set of dials for that year or the proxy fails.
