I have had my Stilo Abarth since Jan and been a pleasure to drive. 2 probs that I have is fact that it is loosing a lot of oil (from cam belt side of engine) and Im using 5ltr of oil every 3-4 weeks. I don't know where it is coming from its not the rocker cover because I tried replacing it.

Could the headgasket cause such an oil leak or is there another issue im not aware of with these cars?

Yesterday however the car died. I pulled up to my house turned it off, came back 10 mins later and the car would not start. I wired the car to the computer and got an error regarding the 2 circuits for the knock sensors (I have cleared these faults and they do not appear now).

The car now turns over and that's it.... I took timing cover off and found the issue was caused by a tiny bit of plastic managed to drop into the crank cog and caused the vibrations which set the knock sensor off.

Now Ive checked an I am getting petrol in the cylinders and there is a spark. Could this tiny bit of plastic cause the timing to jump very slightly and cause the engine to not start?

I am going to strip engine this weekend can anyone tell me or show me physical pics of the timing settings for crank and cam shafts.

So ive had a further look and the car is in timing, its got perfect compression, had it linked to a snap on computer and no faults, as I mentioned its got fuel and spark, all fuses are fine Im lost for ideas now please help.

I thought it could be the knock sensors or the crank sensor but surely it would show up as a circuit fault on the computer??

I have the locking tools etc to do the job. I have now since scrapped the car and bought another in yellow in much better nick.

1 thing I did notice was when it was linked to computer, the old Stilo said 'No' on the key activation but on the new 1 it said 'yes'.

Could a knock on the engine cause the immobilizer to stick?
