Hi All,

Just bought my first Fiat Stilo 1.6 16v Active sport . Manual. And to be honest... the cars great... except one little issue. Its a bugger to get into 5th. It goes into all gears fine except 5th. Its as if theres something blocking the gear, when it goes in it doesnt crunch or anything like that. I have to sort of... pull it towards reverse a little then forward into 5th and it goes in. When the engines off its still the same... doesnt want to go into gear. The dealer that sold me the car said they had put in a new clutch as the old one was slipping. Can anyone shed some light? Im taking this car back tomorrow anyway but it would be nice to go armed with something.

Hi, Welcome to the FF.

The garage has probably disturbed the correct position of the gear selector cables on top of the gearbox when they removed it. A small adjustment will probably cure the problem.

Thanks alot pal, ill mention that to them tomorrow. Are they easy to get to? If its a simple fix I could do it myself, just never owned a Stilo... or even... a Fiat before. Have to say otherwise its a great car :')

Mines the same too, all gears are fine apart from 5th you sort of have to gently feel it in.
The guy I bought it off said it was a common issue with all Fiat Stilos but after this weekends findings I wouldn't believe an effing word he said.
Mines an 04 1.6 16v sport, be interesting to hear any other comments?
