JTD 115 3 - door. Car went into a Fiat dealer last week to have the N/S dip bulb replaced and the pollen filter replaced - I didn't have the time or the inclination myself! :)

Asked them to replace the rear O/S bulb as well - it has the red and clear design of lens (are these model year specific? I prefer them) and it was the lower bulb of the T shape. When picking the car up the service guy said that the lights had been checked and all found to be working.

But when I got home the next day I checked the rear lights and the one bulb still wasn't working and I couldn't open the boot. The dealer disconnected the battery when changing the dip bulb, could this affect the boot release?

Also, the radio turns on and off with the ignition which it didn't do before.

Annoying that you take the car in for a routine bulb replacement and come away with a problem with the boot.

I'm not at work tomorrow so will go to garage to see what they have to say but any ideas?

Tried the key but it wouldn't go all the way in despite using some WD40 beforehand.

I tried using the internal central locking switch to lock and unlock my boot when I had a similar problem. It worked after that.

You can set the stereo stuff using the "Menu" button. And other fun stuff like switch the langauge to Italian!

Thanks Santaniello - I did have a quick look inside when I was trying the boot again earlier. Whereabouts is the central locking switch?

if they disconnected the battery, then all the settings in the menus are now default. you need to go back through the menus via the control panel to set the rear lock to unlock etc 9i think its called "boot lock" if you don't have a manual come back and ill have a look in mine for you, also the car stereo settings are done via the stereo NOT the menu controls - press and HOLD the menu buttons on the stereo for the sub menus - in there you can find the auto on/off settings.

Cheers Clivvy - just came back to this post to say I've got it sorted and saw your reply.

Having had a look at the handbook (bought one not long after getting the car) to see where the central locking button was - for some daft reason when looking before I thought the switch was something to do with locking/unlocking the windows! Because of that on 4/5 door cars I suppose for the rear?

Anyway, came across the reference to the multifunction menu and enabling the boot to open separately, changed it to Off and hey bingo it worked thankfully.

Given that I don't have buttons on my key fob I'd have thought that the default would be Off rather than On but I guess they'd think you'd use the key for the boot? I only have the one key and it doesn't seem to fit the boot (must have had the door lock changed?) and so would have been stuffed!

The Stilo is far too complicated (in a good way!) in some respects given the market segment it was aimed at - it has many of the functions of my new Audi A6 and then some!
