This started a month ago. Got all the major faults showing up and when the A guy came for recovery (see I broke down just after the Bow roundabout in Stratford), he tried connecting to the car via bluetooth and after several failed attempts, it was registering a Mass Air flow fault. He managed to earth a wire somewhere and the car managed to start up again. He advised I take it to Fiat

Took it to Fiat and they couldn't find anything else wrong except the MAF fault reading which they felt was an ASR module fault on the ECU. Cut long story short, they are basically saying I need a new ECU.. costs about £1500!!!

A friend said he sorta had the same issue some years back and just changed his MAF for about £60 and it solved it. Do I just get the sensor???? And how do i fix it?

I need your advice guys!!!

Changing the ECU would be the last thing I would do. They are pretty reliable and the fault is much more likely to lie elsewhere. You could try cleaning the MAF for starters. Also check for poor earths and poor battery condition as this can throw up all sorts of other problems.
