Hi again.

So, oil...

I was thinking we could start a sticky on oil, as it's a subject we all need to deal with and know about.
So, I'm thinking (and asking)

1. Model of car and engine size
2. Recommended oil / and preferred oil (and reason)
3. Recommended Miles/months per oil change.
4. Anything else to go with the oil, oil filter, air filter, spark plugs

Key;
FS = Fully Synthetic
SS = Semi Synthetic
MO = Mineral Oil

E. G.

1. Stilo Abarth 2.4
2. 5w40 fully synthetic/ Mobil 0w40 FS for winter/runs well.
3. Every 6000 or 12months / 6 months regardless.
4. Platinum sparks every 12months.

I hope this will be helpful to others.

1) Stilo 1.2 16v
2) Castrol GTX 10W40 Fully Synthetic
3) Every 12 Months or 10,000 miles, barely uses any oil.
4) Bosch Super 4 spark plugs

As mentioned by Alex, I'd give the car a thorough health check, fill the tank to the brim and add some Redex and give the car a good run in :)

I use 10w40 semi myself and OEM spark plugs.

1. Stilo Abarth 2.4
2. Castrol EDGE 10W-60 SN (as per Castrol recommendation)
3. 12 months
4. OEM plugs. The plugs that came out looked ancient but I only replaced as doing a coil so I suspect they do high miles (km) before giving trouble.

1. Schumi 2.4
2. Mobil 1 0W-40 FS
3. Annual/6K
4. Every year: pollen filter; wiper blades; Waxoyl underside and suspension components. Every 2-3 years: clean K&N filter; replace plugs (Nippon Denso Iridium); coolant change; brake fluid change. Every 36K: g/box oil change; replace cambelt.

Probably OTT for some, but I intend to run this car as a 'keeper' for the long haul...

Very thorough. Nothing is wrong with regular oil changes.
I might to and follow yours.

I don't know alot about spark plugs, hence me thinking once a year. Lol.

1. Stilo 2.4 20v
2. 5w/40 Fully synth - I've used various brands over the years
3. Every year without fail usually around October/November time so at its best for the winter time
4. Annually - an oil and filter change, fluid check and general check round and oil up is all I do as I only do about 3500 miles a year. It has NGK irridium plugs which are good for around 24000 miles, a K&N panel filter which won't need cleaning for another 5 years at the least, a brake bleed every 2 years aswell as a cabin filter, and coolant every 5 years.
