My 1.2 (45k miles) started to suffer from clutch slippage. When flooring the throttle (ooooo the power ) the revs rise suddenly and then drop noticeably.

Had a quick look on ebay and it seems a clutch can be bought from £50.

Do I go with the £50 one or are the ones closer to £100 any better?

When I replaced my clutch I just got the garage to order in the kit and I remember it being somewhere round about the £85 mark. All in it cost £360 with labour bit steep I thought

Personally, OEM clutch all the way myself, to many pattern parts, and even uprated clutches, I've seen fail catastophically.

Could you recommend an on-line shop for OEM parts?

I believe the Valeo clutch is what's in mine, and what do you know - it's £85

I wouldn't go for anything cheaper than that if I'm honest, £55 seems too cheap even though it's a 1.2

Not sure if Shop4Parts do them, might be worth trying Fiat direct, often just as well priced as other places (dispite what people say).

Equally if you can ask Fiat for a price, and what make the part is, and once they've told you, you might be able to go to the manufacture direct.

If Valeo is the part like the above post (I'm not 100% sure, but know they supply a lot of Fiat parts) then you could get it from anywhere really

Oe = original equipment

Valeo = OE...!!
Buy it anywhere you like for the lowest possible price, being it Ebay or whatever...!!
I just recently bought a German Luk Rep set clutch assembly for my Alfa GT from Ebay.
Guess what was inside the original Luk box......??? Yes indeed, French made Valeo all the way...!!
Sachs clutches are a reputable brand as well, btw.

I know that, but my question is what does 'OE quality' mean? Was it just a fancy way of 850kd saying get a generic pattern part, even though most posters have advised against this.

OE quality written on pattern after market parts means nothing, some will be the same, some will be better, loads will be worse

Valeo is OE though, as in its what fiat use

So basically it means nothing :\? I always thought as the definition went it had to be similar or better quality?

its meant to be but everyone sticks it on every thing now,

OE doesn't mean anything.

OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) means the parts are made by the same manufacturer that the car manufacturer uses.
