Right chaos i have been asking a few questions regarding the jtd air filter and people say to me don't bother and i kinda get that, but every car i have had since 2001 i have had a cone filter onit, for the ease of changing it and cleaning it more than anything and of course the noise is nice i know i won't get much noise from a jtd but it will be easier to clean and change than the current setup, but do i need a catch tank, i have read there is a tube that feeds into the standard airbox which is a breather tube and i know of someone who has fitted a breather filter but it caused oil mess in the engine bay which i would rather not have, does anyone know this for sure, i already have a brand new cone filter (non oiled) waiting to go on.

thanks in advance

Robin

Not exactly answering your question but the thread above has a bit of info about the oil catch tank. Like me, I have heard of a few people on here who have had the issue where the tank has come off.

When mine came off & the tank broke open, there was quite a bit of oil in it, so it I guess its better for the oil to collect in the tank, rather then in the turbo, MAF or filter.

On the subject of the cone filter, with the risk of sparking up a debate about it. It seems to me the stilo has got a nice inlet for the air in the grille at the front of the car, maybe you get a bit of a 'ram air' effect with it too. Thats got to be better then a cone in hot air in the engine bay? I understand what you mean about access though, its looks a right pain to change.

The oil breath box is a small box plastic welded to the bottom of the airbox. I snapped it off, drilled a few holes in it and mounted it behind the OS headlight. This works fine! I do have plans to fit an oil catch tank eventually! I'm just not entirely sure how they work :) I'll keep an eye on this thread and hopefully I'll find out! I know MarkThompson has one fitted!

Thanks buddy so it a seperate tank to the airbox? as this may be just what i needed to hear, did you ever fix your old tank, or just leave teh bottle there?

Its a dark & cold outside, so I am not going out to check, but I am pretty sure the pipe to the turbo, downstream of the MAF sensor there is another tube coming off it which goes to the oil catch tank.

And yes I just left the bottle fixed to the end of the pipe.:)
