hello stiliatos :)

during last month, I have discovered that my Stilo JTD 1.9 105hp is not accelerating as smooth as it was before

and actually is smokes hm...gray smoke, more to black, but only when I am actually accelerating, not just pushing pedal on neutral. (strange? )

I have made a graph for some visual,
lets assume I have in third Gear, 1500rpm, and add full throttle:

it starts accelerating, from 2000rpm it really makes you glued to seat, but! but at 2500-2600rpm, it has some power drop, just for 1-3 second, but you feel that it is not pushing car forward. after that fall, it continues to accelerate as usual.

what can be the problem?
is that smoke usual? its not a lot, not black, it grey, and only smokes when I am accelerating car at full power/throttle, If I just push pedal at neutral, there is no smoke!

fuel consumtion is normal - 4.0-4.5 /100km on highway, 5.5-6/100km city

I have blanked EGR, 6 month already, car moves normally, same power but that fall makes me nervious.

and please, can you suggest any liquid for cleaning inside system? I know there are some liquids which I should mix with Diesel and cleans inside parts?

MAF sensor... Unplug it and see how you get on

as for cleaner... Redex, X1R, Millers Cetane Booster, theres allsorts on the market so take your pick... I know the JTD boys swear by Millers.

Always worth an ask... When was the last time the fuel and air filters were changed?

thanks for reply :)

I will check MAF today,

Filetrs may be the problem, especially air filter, its so inconvenient to check often :(

whats about miller, so, JTD users tend to use miller?
hm, I will purchase now, 500 ML = 500 liter, so next 6 month I will use it

nice done sir, nice, Ive already ordered miller and that's for 500 liters :))
after that I will try forte and we can make solution to that

whats about smoking?
it smokes a lot and white, while accelerating car at full power :(
I can only see the smoke at night, on the lights of cars behind.

It does not smoke if just press accelerator in neutral gear, smokes only when moving car :S

we use a product called innovation power kleen that removes the sulphur that others dont, yes its a diesel its a 1998 ford galaxy 1.9 td with 530,834 miles:eek: yes and sold on ex taxi, only once did they get him for emissions as he forgot to add it to tank 1/4 full(y)you have to keep a regular oil and filters change on diesels that means air and fuel also.

okeeeeeeey, here we go

I have changed Fuel filter

I have changed Air filter (f**k, it was full of dirt, I wish it was on better place to check more often)

I have cleaned MAF senseor, which had oil in it and dust glued to that oil, used some engine cleaning spray to clean remotely.

Added milelrs diesel addictive

Seems that some power lags and acceleration problems are gone :slayer:

and smoke is far less, but at high revs still comes black smoke, on 4-5K rev.
especially when I take foot from accelerator, but its I think default for diesel engines.

I just want to see Stilo Engineer, I want to look in his eyes and ask,

WHY, WHY THE HELL WE HAVE TO DISASSEMBLE WHOLE CAR TO CHANGE LIGHT BULB

OR WHERE THE HELL HE SAW AIR FILTER CHANGED FROM THE BOTTOM OF CAR !!!!

ok, once more time:

its still smoking very hard after 3k
u cant see cars behind you when accelerating at max

As i searched net, 95% of this smouk should be intake air pipes problems

so will start at weekend to check each of them.
whats about turbo, should it have some oil in it?

thanks

its my car :(

smokes a lot on ~3000 rpm, for a few seconds

after that not too mach, abbout 20% of the first smoke

whats the problem can be?

I will take video soon

Could it be the turbo seals letting oil vapour mix with the soot from the egr system, I had this problem and it was blowing smoke just like you're one. Check the inter cooler pipes for oil and maybe check your egr/ throttle body.

thanks for your reply

seems like I have to disassemble all intake system from first pipe to turbocharger

and today I got a huge power loss, car just doesnt go, I can hear turbo sound but also under the hood smth is blowing air.

Seems like some of the pipes have hole

Hi. I had a very similar problem with my Stilo’s; it turned out to be the fuel I was using.

Asda and Morrison’s seem to be the worst, if you are using them try B.P or Esso; you will be driving a different car.

I use about two tanks a week and am happy to pay the extra £1 a tank for much better performance.

The supermarket fuel is cheap for a reason.
