hi i have a 53 plate stilo and the cluster containing the speedo, odometer etc keeps losing power and the turning back on again. sometimes it will only be off for a split second and sometimes longer. Also sometimes if I'm driving the cluster will turn off but leave the speedo at the current speed and then when it turns back on it thinks that is the zero mark. Has anyone had this issue before or anyone know what it could be and how i could fix it?
cheers Hix

Hi Hix

i am having the same problem and i have had to buy a new cluster......well when i say new i mean i got one from a salvage yard and installed it in my stilo, I have been given advise on here that to properly sync it to your ECU then a proxy alinement needs to be done, but as soon as you install it your speedo, fuel gauge and engine temp counter will work right away, the proxy will sort out your mileage.

I paid £40 for the cluster rather than the expensive dealer prices.

Hope this helps.

Start of this year i was having similar problems with my dashboard it was intermittent when it started - dials would freeze and dashboard lights would not come on then after an hour they would be back sadly this lasted a few days then it completely froze out - had it checked at my local garage nothing..

i heard of CLUSTER REPAIR UK from this site who were brilliant efficient and alot cheaper than fiat..Sent it off to them - repaired in a few days returned all in order with 2year warranty

Hope this helps

Skiba - a proxy alignment does NOT adjust the mileage - it adjusts the behaviour of the instrument cluster according to the configuration of the body computer.
Mileage can be adjusted upward with Examiner or FES, downward with special equipment.
I can repair these cluster faults for 65 pound plus 12 pound for the return shipping costs from the netherlands to UK.
I also can adjust the mileage of donor clusters to any needed value.
The advantage of repair is you will keep your mileage and configuration settings.

Thanks for letting me know this, I must have misread a previous post about proxy alinements.....

Sorry for the wrong information everyone......everyday is a school day :)

thank you all for your comments/ advice. if i can pick up a replacement for around £40 then that would be better for me than sending it off to get fixed as i need the car for work. I live in stoke on trent so quite far from mansfield but thank you for the offer. I'm new to the forum and I'm not great with fixing cars etc so some of whats been said has lost me slightly. if i bought a new cluster from salvage would i need to do anything to it to make it work or would it be "plug in and play"

As long as it comes from a vehicle with exactly the same engine then it will mostly work when plugged in, ie. rev count, speedo etc should be ok but other things like the mileage and possibly warnings / warning lights wont be.

Never done it with a Stilo but had some customers do it with other cars, like one today trying to put a 1.6 Scenic cluster onto a 2.0 Scenic rx4 and wondering why the speedo didn't work ...

I put my "new" cluster into my stilo this morning and it took me about 15 minutes, its quite straight forward to be honest, two screws at the top on two screws just under under the cloth cover. it was a little fiddly to get past the steering wheel but once it was out it was a simple plug in and away i went. the only down down to this is that the mileage on the "new" cluster is 121K where my original mileage is only 64K, so my next step is to get it changed, i have kept my old cluster just in case the garage needs it.

The cluster i got from the salvage was a bit hard to find as not many places have stilo's but on my 8th phone call i managed to get it "happy days" :D

if you don't mind sending your cluster to the Netherlands i can adjust your mileage to the original value.
Just send me a PM when you're interested.....
