I have obtained some Schumacher front seats which I want to fit to my multiwagon. When I came to fit them last night the fun started. Has anyone fitted 3 door front seats in a 5 door? I now realise the seat base chassis are very different, for instance on the 5 door chassis, the seat belt is attached to the seat base chassis, but not on the 3 door, on the 3 door the bottom fixing point must be to the cars side frame.

Can you get the 3 door base custions and 3 door back rest to fit the 5 door seat chassis ? I have now taken the Schumacher seats apart ready to try but I dont really want to take my old seats apart if someone has already done this and they dont fit ! Thx:)

What are schumacher seats? And what is the benefit of fitting them? Won't they weirdly fold forward being from a 3dr? Seems like a lot of effort for no reason? Just wait for a nice 5 door interior to come round and buy and fit them!

My wife hates the std stilo dynamic seats, she finds them uncomfortable, the schmacher ones have larger side supports and thicker padding both on the base and the back rest. I dont know which 5 door models, if any, have similar good front seats to the Schumacher, but the added complication I have is that I have the sliding rear seats.

I was not bothered about the Schumacher front seats being from a 3 door and thus folding forward, you would just never use this feature. The main thing is that they are black cloth and so is my interior, I never thought for 1 minuite the seat chassis would be so different. :bang:

I've never ever noticed. Were your bolsters not just worn and floppy? My black cloth interior was similarly uncomfortable. My new leather interior was exactly the same design as the cloth ones but was much firmer and the bolsters were much more supportive. Presumably the leather interior had done much less miles.

What do you mean by electronics? The Airbag and Seat belt wires just un plug. The mechanism of the seats are actually quite simple. Take the Schumi ones apart and you will have a fair idea of what your going to have to do to the other one. If it doesnt work then it wont take long to put back together and in the car.

Thx 4 your replies, to answer your questions the electric cables are on the seat back rests (side airbags) and the other is linked to the seat belt clip on the seat chassis. My wife has always found the std dynamic cloth seats in my Nov 2003 Stilo poor, they are not even worn, personally I dont find they are too bad, not the best, but not the worst. After I have sorted the seats I may also have to take my 17" wheels off (45 profile tyres) and for the time being put my 16" ones back on (55 profile tyres) to try and improve the ride ! Or leave the car as it is and change the wife  !

If anyone has a couple of spare/scrap front seats out of a five door or m/wagon and are not too far away from Kidderminster, I would be grateful as then I could use the metal chassis of those and keep my original seats to put back in if I ever sell the car, otherwise I will take apart my seats to try and fit the Stilo Shumi back rests and base custions.

Is it really worth the Effort of geting a spare set of seats to put back to standard "If" you sell the car. It wont do anything Negative to the value by having the Shumi ones and they will be worthless anyway.
