:worship:I have a Fiat Stilo JTD Dynamic 1.9 diesel.

How do I check the gear box oil level ?

Mike Steward

the gearbox has 2 nuts that are used, you are better off draining the oil out and then filling it up until the oil starts to drain out, i'll grab a picture of the locations later as i'm in the middle of changing the brake master cylinder

Pretty sure you can't. There's no dipstick or anything like that, only way you'll know how much there is/was is if you drain it to replace the gearbox oil. Are you having issues with your gearbox?

Thanks for your info I would appreciate some sort of indication as to which 2 Nuts

mike, is your JTD an 8 or 16v?

If it's a 16v then you may have a dipstick next to the diff housing.

Found this on a related thread:

"A JTD has 3 plugs in the gearbox. A drain one at the bottom, one to set the correct level (at the top of the diff) and the filling one on the top of the box (take battery tray off for easy access)

Drain using the lower one, open the level setting plug and leave it open, then fill from the top one until oil starts to come out of the level one. Job done."

Should help you out ;)
