Hi,
I picked up my Stilo a couple weeks ago with a few known issues but have come across another.
The steering feels notchy, especially apparent when on the motorway where you'd need to turn the wheel half a degree or so. My steering it moves from position A to B which might total 3 degrees or something, it's certainly not smooth at all. Means as I go down a straight road I'm having to very gently weave left and right to maintain a straight line.
When I got the car it had a couple advisories from the MOT on it.
Nearside front suspension has slight play in lower ball joint
rear (both) axle beam has slight vertical movement between stub axle/axle beam
Nearside suspension arm has slight play in track control arm inner bush
I had the tracking done so the steering is at least straight.
Any ideas? A mad googling session is suggesting the steering rack is on the way out, but would any of the advisories above be a cause (before I go off and hunt a scrapyard for a rack)?
Cheers
