General OEM Stereo AUX in on CD Changer line?

Given up on this. You don't realise until you put a half-decent head unit in how much better the sound quality it, tone, depth, clarity, functionality.
You're honestly better of spending £50 on a basic MP3 unit from a decent manufacturer (JVC, Sony, Pioneer) in the Halfords or Argos sale, and buying a fascia and adapter off ebay for a tenner. The improved sound quality is immeasurable, even with the original speakers, any you can easily get something with line in for £50.
I did this recently, put my old Sony bluetooth head unit in, should have done it a year ago. Also got £70 for the original head unit on ebay, so it could be it turns out to be a zero cost upgrade if you spend around £70 on a head unit and fascia.

That's the easy way. :D

Until I got the money to buy the HU I want this is what I need. Our radio stations suck and I hate changing CDs while driving...

In that case get an FM transmitter. I've got a nexxus drivestyle pro which worked well.

I've got a FM transmitter belkin made. My FM reception is bad, either the antenna is broken or the plug is broken. The sound from phone line is better, imo.
The sound range in fm is narrow.

I know that aftermarket HU have better sound quality that original HU, but original HU looks much better than aftermarket. Only good replacement for original HU is:

But price is too high.

I'm quite happy with my sony hu - looks good, and the functionality and quality far makes up for the fact that it's not original

Here goes:

I did the aux in as my previous post suggested. Works but it's in mono I presume.
I need to get my hands on these mini ISO plugs... So that I can do my testing.
I think that stereo sound could be possible in Phone mode.
Mute and grouding must be short circuited other wise it doesn't work.

!!! Disclaimer: These are just my theories how it could work. No actual testing has been done. I can not and will not be responsible if you wish to try this on your own HU and/or you break something !!!!

As for the CDC line in C15 and C16 must be short circuited after that the CD mode will be silent with no background noise with that perhaps the CDC left and right could be used to input sound from other sources.

So, normal RCA to 3.5mm plug cable should suffice. Left and right to their corresponding pins with both channels earting shorted and plugged to C18. And a switch to short circuit C15 and C16.

As you are not capable to use the real CDC interface to control your iPod/iPhone or others you just need to "open" the line input.

If someone tries this, please write here does it work. I tried and it doesn't work on my HU.

What did you try?
Connect C15 and C16, audio channels correctly and grounding as the manual says?

Yes, I tried to connect C15 and C16 and I could not enter in CDC mode. I think that this only workr on old Bravo/ Brava HU.

It will never enter CDC mode without intelligence between the HU and input source.
Connectin C15 and C16 will only play the CD but with no sound, which I think "opens" the left and right input for the CDC.
That's my theory, haven't had time to test any of this yet.

Yes, I didn't connect stereo cable to source of sound but when I connect pin 15 and pin 16, I press SRC button, CD start to play and I can hear sound from CD not the silence as you said.

That's odd. I did it too and rotated volume to 26 with no sound.

I didn't connect pins with short circuit. I connect pins with 12V examiner with light. Maybe that is the reason of no CDC mode. When you did it what was write on display? Can you connect mp3 player or mobile phone to HU and see would it work?

Perhaps, that's the reason.
CD15 and C16 are just the power contacts for CDC. As for the CDC itself to work it needs C13, C14 and C17(I presume) which need some "intelligence" to work ie. the CD+ and CD- buttons etc.

So, for total control of ie. iPod/iPhone from the HU you need to stick with the ones we know. A completely new HU or those changer imitators which you can buy.

I'll try to get my hands on this matter as soon as I can but it might take some time though.
But when I do get results, I'll inform you.

Thanks! I don't need control iPod from HU. I just need aux input, but I think that it would be more "inteligent" communiocation betwen HU and Mp3 player than just connection between pin 15 and 16.

Just to be sure; do the cd changer adaptors work with this type of HU?
