Hi!

I'm a new owner of a 2004 Stilo 1.6 MW experiencing a strange engine temperature behavior. The engine won't reach correct working temperature until I either stop and let it idle for a couple of minutes, or drive really slow (think intensive city driving). Even if it has reached this temperature (indicator pointing straight up), it drops again as soon as I increase speed. It's not that much off, but it is deviating noticably from the correct position.

Another strange behavior is that if I let it reach working temperature and then turn up the fan to maximum speed and temperature, the engine temperature will start to decrease quite noticably. When the heat is turned off again, the engine temperature returns to normal.

To me this indicates a not-so-healthy thermostat (not closing coolant flow in the way it should), but I wanted to check with you guys. Perhaps there's some other strange fault that would manifest itself in this manner?

Thanks in advance!

Imho the problem is in thermostat. My thermostat behave similar, especially when outside temperature is about -10 degree C.
