Hi guys,
New poroblem with the new multiwagon, when I unlock the doors from the keyfob and then go to open the boot it wont release unless I hold the boot release button, then once I shut it about 5-10 seconds later it just randomly releases again and it might do this 3/4 times before it stays locked, serious problem when it releases when I set off driving, any ideas anyone?

Cheers Ant

Sounds like the problem we had - we ended up setting the car to open only on the keyfob. Eventually got rid of car as were too scared of what it was going to cost....

my MW has started this with the boot just recent, not looked at it yet but i find if you either just lock the doors with the button on the door before you drive off it doesn't open. Or, when you close the boot, lock and then open the car and it doesn't happen either. If i ever look into it further i'll post what i find but tbh it doesn't bother me much

Hi I also had the same problem with my multiwagon.
2 faults. First being that the microswitch on the tailgate handle
went faulty so fob use only (I think it is only available as part of the handle).secondly the problem with the tailgate self releasing after closing
could be the lock mechanism touching on the release switch attatched to the lock. It can be adjusted slightly but if it still fails it would suggest to have to be replaced. Regarding the microswitch on the handle I am trying to source a non genuine replacement.will keep you posted.

Cheers guys, seems to be a common problem. Will also keep an eye out for parts.

Yep mine has been doing the same as well, works sometimes but others doesnt but its not too much of a problem as at least you can use the keyfob.

Just had a quote from a genuine Fiat garage, Clemo in Bradford, they want £40 + vat for a genuine microswitch. And also £48 + vat for a rear multiwagon spring, anyone know where to get these cheaper as Shop4parts which is based 5 mins from me doesnt appear to stock them.

Hi Guys,

Looks like the microswtich replacement is a good bet for me, I've only been able to open the tailgate with the key fob for a few months now on my 04 MW,

and chances are that I already have a microswitch ... I have several RS types which should help unless SOD's law strikes ( fingers crossed, LOL) ... Jack

I had the same problem, so I took the handle apart, gave it a good clean, sprayed it with some contact cleaner and problem solved! Maybe you should try that before starting to buy and replace stuff (y)

Cheers!
