Hi,

I got a problem with my Stilo. I replaced the motor and every thing works good except the instrument board - It doesn't work at all

Can you help me?

Thx

sorry but i still dont understand what you mean, there are many motors in a car, starter motor, stepper motor in the dash, engine?

more info would help :)

I replaced the main engine :).. i have cheked all the fuse and they are all fine..

check the connector on the back of the instrument cluster- there should be +12v continue on pin 2 , +12v switched by ignition on pin 2 and ground on pin 7 (seen from the back side 1 is upper left, 9 is upper right).
If the 12v is not available check all connections ,wiring and ground connections between cluster and battery.
You have no lights at all ?

I have just measured the connection and pin 1 has+12V(Ing), pin 2 +12V, pin3 +5V, pin 6-7 is ground. Is that right ?

i see i made a mistake - +12v switched by ignition is on pin 1 , not on pin 2 !
pin 3 is for CAN low , pin 6 is for lamp adjuster control (positive from fuse F13).
So 12v power and ground seems to be fine - pin 3 and 6 are not relevant in your case.
Did you check fuse F37 and F53 ? (switched and unswitched power supply) - try if removing and reconnecting them gives any improvement....

Now i tryed all the fuses and tey are all fine. F37 gives +12V from Ign. and F53 +12V constant.
Is there a chance that the instrument board is defekt ? Or can it be something with the engine change of the car, maybe the(electronic box).

try to connect the cable on pin 7 of the connector to ground with a seperate wire to ensure proper grounding.
If this activates your cluster this means you did not connect a ground connection properly somewhere.

I did that and i still have the same problem. Ehmmmm are there any good suggestions left ?:worship:

if both +12v swiched and unswitched and ground connections are o.k. the cluster should be showing some info on the display and light some warning lights at least with ignition on.
If you could connect another instrument board from another Stilo temporary it would confirm if your cluster is faulty before buying a replacement board...

Yes seems like the best option right now :) And thx for the help fo now. :D

My Stilo's instrument panel wosnt working for ages.

I was told by someone on the forum to clean the PCB on it with contact cleaner (£3 from halfords)

This did the trick and iv had to do it afta about 4 months agen n works fine again.

Defo worth a try

Take off the cover of the back of the instrument panel which comes out with 2 splines and 2 screws and gettin ure fingers under the top part and tippin it forward, and unplug it. It then does come out just about lowering the steering wheel fully.

the PCB is the circuit board whcih you will se lots of solder dots and small components. i jus sprayed the cleaner on left for a few mins a wiped clean, then did this agen and left to dry for a few hours(dont leave out in sun light)

Hope this helps

Thx for the tip it worked :D so i´m very happy now, so 1000 tanks for the help (y)
