evening folks,

anyone tried fitting snow chains to the stilo? can't get my hands on chains for 18" 215/40 wheels, anyone know if ones for the 17" 215/45 would be ok? got a trip to the alps planned hopefully wont have to use them but you never know.

cheers,

With 40 profile tyres and full snow chains you will definately make a mess of your alloys with the chains as they will overlap.
I suggest getting some standard steel wheels, preferably with winter tyres, for the trip.

I'd strongly not recommend fitting chains to oversized wheels as you'll very likely do considerable damage to the car as well as the alloys.

Don't forget you should always fit the chains after purchase so that you're very familiar with their fitting and adjustment (never assume they will fit just because is says so on the box)

You don't need chains for the alps. Why not just get a hold of some Fiat/Lancia/Alfa wheels with winter tires on them. No need for spikes either, unless it is ice with running water ontop. I'd go for max 15" wheels to make sure there is plenty of rubber to dig the snow.

M.
