I am thinking about having my car remapped when its out of guarrantee. I was wondering if anyone who has had a remap done at Red Dot is it where they have the rolling road days could enlighten me a bit with such as do you get a CD with your original map on and do they overwrite the ecu or do they use the information whats there. Ive been making enquiries at a couple of places in the North East who have a rolling road but the prices they want make it still cheaper to travel down to watford

At Red Dot you'll get a print out of before and after the remap. Essentially the settings for certain perameters within the ECU are what constitutes a remap.
FWIW I'd have the car serviced before hand to make sure it's in top shape - timing belt not a bad idea either, but I tend to be cautious about timing belts.

The 150 should produce some interesting results, if Peter is around you might contemplate an induction kit but without it you'll still see a marked improvement. But be warned - there are possible spies post remap which seem to be Stilo peculiar. Have a search through the threads ;)

they keep a back up on the system of your old map. never heard anyone ask for it to be put on a cd though, maybe because you cant put it back your self and another company will charge you the same price as they do for a remap to put it back.

so may as well just leave it on their system, if you ever want it put back they do it free

Ill tell you why Im asking these things one of the garages I rang reckoned Red Dot must be doing what he called a flash remap and there could be problems later but I told him as far as I new nobody had mentioned having any problems so thats it really Im just trying to find out the best route for me to take, a long ride to Watford and save £100 thats after the diesel expense or believe what he says and help pay for his super top of the range rolling road

I had a Stilo Multijet 150, selling it was possibly the worst mistake I ever made. I replaced it with a Bravo, thinking the newer car would be better.
Wrong, although it had the same engine it was nowhere near as much fun to drive as the Stilo.

The only mods on the Stilo were a remap (to roughly 200bhp and 300lb/ft) and Eibach pro-kit springs. The only problem I encountered was a little clutch slip occasionaly which got no worse in 5,000 miles. I asked for an aggressive remap, and that's what I got which suited me and my driving style.

I have subsequently sold on the Bravo and I'm now looking for another Stilo Multijet 150, but they're pretty rare these days.

Go for the above mods, it's a real hoot :)(y)

Arent they all flash re-maps you have to flash it like any other hardware to overide the standard settings. I no expert but sounds like they are trying the old confuse you with big long words but mean nothing trick to get you to use them.

Yeah, I know about that one. It's a bit fishy. I haven't told them yet but when you run the reg through an HPI check it comes back as a Multijet 120

Shame really as I rather like it in red :(

Nooooooo - and likewise, I thought it was unusual in Red. Can't quite see if it's a 6 speed 'box from the pics........but now I look at it more closely it does look like a 5 speed. Shame, as a 150 it would be bloody tempting

Hi Dave,

Just out of interest, where did you get your remap done?

probably some where with no proof of gains, that be why it says roughly?
Dave_R has already said it outclassed the Bravo he bought so can't see why he needs "proof of gains"

Speaking for myself, I'll take the proof in the driving any day over a piece of paper and if you can't notice the difference then it's almost certainly a waste of money anyway.

im estimating i run approx 180hp with a tuning box and i suffer with clutch slip around 2000rpm in 4th 5th and 6th end up driving round it which defeats the object have found various sources rate the clutch to only 360nm max
currently saving but no uprated replacements readily available.it is a different clutch to bozzys jtd.always thought they would be similar to astra cdti150 but found them to be different, intake run, fuel rail pressure, turbo ,exhaust etc.only a few of those with same box pass 200hp on a roling road i suspect stilo would be hard pressed get there anyway.also std brakes start to struggle as well ive just fitted ebc 3g discs and green stuff pads.

standard brakes struggle with standard power on JTD and Abarth

Depends how you use them..... mine has completely standard brakes all round and they work just fine in all the conditions I've come across.

However, I don't doubt they could do with being sharper and the fact that mine are standard is more that I haven't bothered my backside to find something else to put on the car..... yet  :p

Have to agree on that one Abz, no problem with brakes on mine although have to admit I hate using them anyway.

Not the best thing to do at night I suppose but if you really have to thrust a foot on both the brake and accelerator then killing the ignition would probably slow you down a bit quicker  ;)

I must be missing something somewhere about this braking thing surely slowing down or braking hard from 70mph is just the same wether you have a 1.2 or a 150bhp m/jet or if it isnt could someone enlighten me please
