General What's your opinion on the sedici

I am a Brit living in Belgium with an 08 UK spec RHD 1.9 MJ Eleganza.
(My wife has a UK Spec Panda Climbing). We have imported both cars into Belgium and are running on Belgian plates now.
My car is two years old this week, and has done just shy of 50,000 miles. Not one single fault, returns avg 40mpg on Autobahn runs and running around the hills of the Belgian Ardennes (we live at 500 meters above sea level).

Fitted Vredestein Snow tyres in December, and had no problems in snow (we had 20 inches at one point). Just swapped back to summer tyres now.

Prior to the Sedici I had a Volvo XC70, and I have to say that as a chunky 6'5" chap I am as comfortable in the Fiat as I was in the Volvo.

The car handles really well and is a lot of fun. OK coming from a Volvo the interior mouldings feel cheap, but they are robust.

I have read a couple of owners of Multijet Sedici's who have had them remapped - the 1.9 being so frequently used in other models. Gets some suprised looks from other road-users with +160BHP yet still retains the MPG....

In the past I've owned an Uno, a Punto and now a Panda. My husband owns a Doblo. We have always been very pleased with our Fiats. My Panda is now getting on a bit so I am thinking of trading it in. I have considered a Suzuki Jimny or a Fiat Sedici. Can anyone offer me their opinion on the Sedici? I don't know anyone who owns or has even driven one.
On another note, my husband and I have always taken our Fiats to Anthony Betts in Hemel for servicing. We have never had any problems from them at all and, apart from one rather arrogant salesman, we have been very pleased with their service.
Dont touch one with barge pole especially diesel, oil light coming on and must be reset by fiat also aircon low pressure pipe cracking, and not stable on corners if u push it be ware.

Ahh a frightening tale of terror there!

We bought our 1.9 Eleganza as a second car and have had it for a while now and bar the gearbox gremlin... sorted quickly by our dealer... it's been a real surprise hit. Fantastic little car, very frugal (averages over 40mpg) and very capable, in fact more so than some of the very much more expensive cars we've owned and currently own.

Any tall 4x4 is going to feel unstable pushing on in a corner and I don't care who makes it. A high C.o.G is always going to compromise stability... it's basic physics!... quick answer, drive sensibly and plan ahead and enjoy the world at a slightly more relaxed pace.:)

Agree with robotdancer; have had my 1.6 petrol for 6 months; we have a long potholed road leading to our house that the Sedici manages with ease; took it to Scotland on a ski trip; no probs at all thus far; now doing 41 mpg on our country roads; very comfortable driving position; could do with a bit more power bur am very pleased with it and prefer driving it to our MX5, Tigra, MiniCooper, Marea, Punto or Ducato.......

Yep agree Tim - We've just added another 3000 miles in two months included a return trip to Devon and our 1.6 has been faultless......... Yes I'd have liked more BHP for the acceleration but once up to speed its ok. Anyone else agree the heater is brill? I have warm air from cold in minutes!
