Hi,


do any of you guys know if a in tank fuel pump is delivering fuel but not with enough pressure this would stop engine from starting,


also does any know what the pressure should be?

I think I replied to you on another post regarding your hard starting van so try that suggestion first.

The tank fuel pump doesn't build up pressure, that's the injector pump, it merely delivers diesel to the fuel filter. If the ff housing is not filling up with diesel then there lies your problem.
You could try pushing on the prime button a few times which is near the injector pump & see if it starts.
If that doesn't work, then clamp the rubber return hose which runs from number 4 injector back to the fuel filter housing. Clamping this hose will build up the pressure in the injectors & at least give you an idea if some are bad.
Youtube 'diesel injector leak off test' tutorial for a more accurate reading but probably best if you get a diagnostics check as it saves a lot of fannying around.

Only other thing I've came across is a bad crankshaft position sensor, a mate of mine had a 05 Hyundai Santa Fe diesel which was a pig to start when cold, turned out to be a faulty CPS.
