As the engines are the same CC so the bores and stroke of the pistons will be similar if not identical.
Now consider the combustion chamber will have the same external diameter, you can have two or four valves in that chamber, the four valves will be smaller than the two valve. The overall amount of charge inhaled and exhaust exhaled will be very similar.
i went to the fiat dealer about 4 years ago when i bought the van, gave him my reg and chassis number he told me my van was a 16v version,....today 4 plus years later iv just replaced the alternator belt and decided to rub down the area where the code is 'a bit rusty' ..iv got a RHZ engine code and this is supposed to be 8v..so what was the dealer on about???,the best way to check is do it yourself..not the fiat dealers
Does anyone have a photo of the engine numbers in location?
I know where to look as it tells me in the handbook but I cannot find a number, im wondering if its stamped into a plate thats been removed from my motor!

I'm new here, just signed up a few min ago. I'm looking through some of the questions, I know this is an old one, but this is the answer.
The main difference between an 8v & 16v engine is the position of the injectors. On the 8 they are clearly on display on the front of the engine, whereas on the 16v, they are hidden in the back.
