hi al, my name is vince, I'm new here and am having a nightmare with a mates gt punto. it broke down around 5weeks ago and hasn't run right since. it will start up then die, it does this 3-4 times then it idles for a few seconds and dies again, if I'm quick enough I can start it then run round the front and open throttle to rev it, it will keep bogging at which point if I feather the throttle until it picks up and get it boosting it revs ok then when its warmed up it will idle but not rev... I cannot think of anything else to try. so far I have- good fuel rail pressure
all injectors spraying good
tested coolant temp sensor
tested intake air sensor
replaced idle valve
replaced maf
replaced throttle position sensor
replaced timing belt
unwrapped the entire engine loom-checked and re-wraped
changed coil pack
replaced plugs and tested-strong spark
removed turbo,intercooler and pipework(fmic) checked and refitted
can someone suggest anything iv overlooked as I'm having a hard time with it and I feel defeated! cheers
 
if its never run right then;-

check the timing and reset the phase sensor-then retry it. this costs nothing.
next i would check the crank sensor and possibly try another or replace.
even though youve replaced the MAF do you know if this was a good known working one? if not try another.

oh i assume the HT leads are in the correct order......

Hi, and welcome to FF, :)

how did it break down..?,
running rough..or just stop dead.. clue could be there;)

from what you said - it's ok stone cold, but get worse as it warms:confused:

the coaxing it to rev.. does it then run cleanly..,
or just stutter and die - back to idle??,

EDIT - actually sounds as if it's over fuelling, no mention of Lambda..

Hi welcome I would check timing and reset phase as said above if that don't work check compression as head could be cracked? good luck.
