Anybody got any successful ideas about how to improve the woeful Punto std items?
I have previously replaced the bulbs with (non-Eu marked - oops!) 100W jobs on my wife's Punto Cabriolet, but to be honest there was not a lot of difference.

Now the nights are drawing in I can see my son's 1.1 Sx suffers just as badly. I'm sure they are great at saying 'mind me, I'm here' to toher traffic but they are useless at seeing where you are going on unlight lanes.

I would be tempted by those 'Brillance' bulbs, except I see they are only twice as bright which probably won't be detectable by the driver???

Anyone got any real experience with these or other bulbs in conjunction with the Punto reflector & lens pattern (which I suspect is actually the problem).

all things must pass.

I know the problem. Fortunately the lights are tons better on the MK2 and in fact they were better on the very first Punto's than on the later Mk1's.
If you do decide on the 100W dooberry's, then dont have them on for too long as the wiring isn't really up to that sort of wattage and gets hot quite quickly.

Plus the higher rating bulbs emit more UV causing the lens to cloud quicker.

Very little you can do, either the hella quad lamps, replace fog lights with driving lights or add some small light units on the front to compliment the originals.

Hi i bought RING ultra xenon £12.99 from a shop for our punto (1997 mk1) and there was a great improvement they are 60/55w so are road legal. They are much better than these other bulbs i bought 130/90w £5.99 off ebay. the 130/90w are better on dip beam but when on full beam i don't think there is enough power to power them because they are dimmer than standard bulbs and the light is all orangey.

Please don't replace the fog lights with driving lights on a Mk1. By law due to their position they can only be used in poor visibility (fog, snow etc). Using them at any other time is a general invitation to the boys in blue to stop the car, ask you to blow in a little tube, check the rest of the car or just do you for incorrect light use. Been there only avoided problems with lots of grovelling.
