Hi

Appears both brake lights have gone. Kindly pointed by the guy who nearly went into the back of me. All rear lights work so this rules out a fuse. I messed about with thr brake light switch but no luck. Ive read to touch the wires together but not sure how as i can't get them out of thr small black connecting box.

Could it be the bulbs or is it unlikely that both go at the same time

Any help would be great

thanks for the advice

i dont have one of them but i read inother posts that you can short the wires together. my problem is i dont know how to disconnect them from the balck block once ive removed the switch.

dont want to cut them off in case they cant be re attached.

Multimeters are pretty cheap these days. I picked one up for a fiver a couple of years ago lol

All rear lights working does not rule out the fuse. The brake light circuit is fused individually.

You can take the black connector block and insert an opened up paperclip to join the two wires together.

It is unlikely that both bulbs failed together, I presume they were both working at last week's check.

Cheers

Hi

Did the wire trick with new bulbs as i had tried it with the old bulbs. Turns out both the bulbs and switch had gone.

Thanks for the help

The plot thickens.

Tried a new switch and im back to square one.

The bulbs are new and work. The new and old switch have been tried in another fiat and work fine and they have also been tested with a multi meter.

Could the brake pedal need adjusting as it could not be pushing the pin of the switch high enough? Or could it be more serious?

So, the wire trick as you called it put the brake lights on, so you know the wiring and fuse are OK.

The switches work in another car, so you know they are OK.

Take the switch, don't fit it to the bracket, leave it in fresh air and attach it to the plug.

Does it work?

Cheers

Tried that also and pressed it myself.

A mechanic said to try the same thing. could it be a wiring problem

Hi, i also have a similar problem. Brake switch is ok, no rear lights are working. Checked the fuse box and there seems to be no live to the rear lights fuse so what could that be? Recently had a dash loom change so which plug is for rear lights?
